Let as talk about the differences between a fiction writer
and a self-proclaimed expert in UFO=ET & conspiracy theory.
Fiction writer gets an idea, let us say a story about some
breakaway
civilization presumably in contact with ET intelligences. This secret
civilization has its own projects including a special space program of their
own.
Our writer works with the idea and writes a science fiction
novel and eventually publish his book.
Now let’s consider the UFO=ET expert. He gets the same idea
and writes also a book and gives lectures, but he tells his audience that the
imaginary breakaway civilization is a fact. Of course he cannot give the
believers any kind of evidence, consequently he or she uses anonymous sources,
misinterpreted and twisted facts and unreliable whistleblowers and fantasists.
What is he doing? As I wrote before, he is selling fiction
as fact.
But of course, this action presents some personal and public
problems, because IF he or she understands that his breakaway civilization is a
fantasy, THEN he knows he is a liar. If he doesn't think that his idea is a
fantasy, then our Ufologist have some serious problems with his perception of
reality and he needs a therapist.
The social problem of course is bigger because our “expert”
is misinforming his public. He is giving a fantasy as the Real Thing, and this
is misinformation or disinformation. This is dishonest if not illegal.
Selling fiction as fact is obviously promotion
of ignorance and confusion.
